Creative direction.

Creative direction at YMD is the ongoing work of shaping visual identity, release rollouts, and audience storytelling across the full arc of a project, from first idea through launch and beyond.

The premise

Most independent artists and mission-driven organizations get told they need "a brand." What they actually need is a world, or, a consistent set of visual, sonic, and narrative choices that make new audiences recognize them fast and existing audiences feel every release belongs to the same story.

That's what creative direction builds.

What creative direction includes

Visual World

Color, typography, photography, motion, and mood; the reference system that every downstream decision derives from.

Release Rollouts

6–10 week arcs for singles, EPs, and campaigns — cover art, press, teasers, video treatment, and release day coordination.

Story Architecture

The through-line that connects one project to the next. This so that rather than simply starting fresh, the story builds upon the thematic connection between the artist's identity and their audience over time.

Sustained Direction

Ongoing partnership across a full cycle (6–18 months) rather than one-off engagements.

Who it's for

Independent musicians

Artists building a world around their sound, releases, and live presence.

Mission-driven organizations

Teams launching a program or campaign that needs one coherent visual and narrative arc.

Enterprise brands

Organizations at an inflection point in their storytelling and audience engagement.
